Getting Started
How do I scan a document?
Tap Scan Document on the home screen. Point your camera at the page — Do Scan automatically detects the edges and captures it. Keep going to add more pages, then tap Save. Your scan becomes a searchable PDF instantly.
Do I need an account or sign-up?
No. Do Scan has no accounts, no login, and no sign-up — ever. You open the app and start scanning.
Does Do Scan need an internet connection?
No. The app works fully offline and makes no network connections at all. Nothing you scan is ever uploaded.
Scanning & Quality
Can I change a scan to black & white or grayscale?
Yes. Open a document and choose a filter — Color, Grayscale, or Black & White. You can switch anytime; the page is rebuilt from the original capture.
Why can't I restore color after scanning in black & white?
If the original page was captured in black & white, the color information was never recorded, so it can't be added back later. Scan in Color if you might want color versions.
Can I scan multiple pages into one document?
Yes. Keep capturing pages in a single scanning session and they're all saved into one multi-page PDF.
OCR & Search
Does Do Scan recognize text?
Yes. Every page is automatically run through on-device text recognition (OCR), creating a true searchable PDF. You can select and copy text, and find documents by the words inside them.
How do I search inside my documents?
Use the search bar in your library. Do Scan searches the recognized text across all your scans, not just the file names.
Editing & PDF Tools
Can I annotate or sign documents?
Yes. Open a document and use markup to draw, highlight, or write with Apple Pencil or your finger. You can also save a signature once and drop it onto any document.
Can I reorder or delete pages?
Yes. Open the page browser, enter edit mode, and reorder, rotate, or delete pages. The PDF is rebuilt with your changes.
Can I merge documents?
Yes. Select multiple documents and merge them into a single PDF.
Can I make a PDF smaller?
Yes. Use compression and pick Small, Medium, or Large to reduce file size — handy for email and uploads.
Can I password-protect a PDF?
Yes. You can lock a document with a password, and remove the password later if you need to.
Importing & Converting
Can I convert Word or PowerPoint files to PDF?
Yes. Import .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, as well as .rtf, .txt, and .html, and Do Scan converts them to PDF on your device.
Can I turn photos into a PDF?
Yes. Import photos from your library, pick one or several, and choose to merge them into one PDF or keep them separate.
Can I open PDFs I already have?
Yes. Import existing PDFs to view, organize, mark up, and sign them alongside your scans.
Privacy & Purchase
Where are my documents stored?
Entirely on your device. Do Scan has no servers and no cloud. Your scans, OCR text, annotations, and signatures never leave your iPhone or iPad.
Is Do Scan a subscription?
No. Do Scan is a one-time purchase. You pay once and own it — no recurring fees, no renewals.
Do you collect any data or analytics?
